• In direct ELISAs, approximately 20% cross-reactivity with recombinant human IL-1 alpha is observed, and 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse and rat IL-1 alpha is observed.
• Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
• Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.

Target Information

IL-1 alpha (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is encoded by the IL1A gene on chromosome 2q13 and signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1 beta.
IL-1 alpha plays a key role in innate host defense by inducing proinflammatory cytokine production and acute-phase responses. Its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA), which competitively inhibits receptor binding.
This pleiotropic cytokine is involved in immune responses, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. It is produced as a proprotein that is processed and released upon cell injury, inducing apoptosis. IL1A and other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2.
IL-1 alpha regulates NF-kappaB and MAPK activities, stimulates IL6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide (NO) production. Elevated IL-1 alpha levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
