AMPK beta-1은 AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)의 조절 서브유닛입니다. AMPK는 α 촉매 서브유닛과 비촉매성 β, γ 서브유닛으로 구성된 헤테로삼합체 효소로, 세포 내 에너지 상태를 감지하는 중요한 효소입니다.
세포 대사 스트레스에 반응하여 AMPK가 활성화되면, acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) 및 HMG-CoA reductase (HMGCR)와 같은 주요 효소를 인산화하여 지방산 및 콜레스테롤 생합성을 억제합니다.
이 β1 서브유닛은 AMPK 활성의 양성 조절자로 작용할 수 있으며, 미리스토일화 및 인산화 상태가 효소 활성과 세포 내 위치에 영향을 미칩니다. 또한 AMPK 복합체의 결합을 매개하는 어댑터 역할을 할 수 있습니다.
