Target Information
Programmed death-ligand 2 (PD-L2), also known as B7-DC, is part of the B7 ligand family within the immunoglobulin superfamily. Along with PD-L1, it binds to PD-1, functioning as an inhibitory immune checkpoint molecule that regulates immune responses. PD-L2 is primarily expressed in dendritic cells but can be induced in various immune and non-immune cells depending on the microenvironment. Its expression is upregulated by cytokines such as IL-4, TNF-alpha, and IFN-gamma. PD-L2 has a higher binding affinity to PD-1 compared to PD-L1 and can modulate T cell activation and cytokine production. Additionally, PD-L2 interacts with RGMb, influencing respiratory tolerance and immune regulation.
