Target Information
The heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While all hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP C1 and C2 are encoded by one gene, with two alternatively spliced transcript variants.
