Target Information

Ubiquitin is a 77 amino acid protein that targets proteins for degradation by the 26S proteasome.
Ubiquitin-like proteins, including UBL3 (ubiquitin-like protein 3) — also known as membrane-anchored ubiquitin-fold protein (MUB) or PNSC1 — share mechanistic similarities with the ubiquitin pathway but are not directly involved in degradation.
UBL3 is a 117 amino acid membrane protein containing two potential N-glycosylation sites, one protein kinase C phosphorylation site, and one C-terminal prenylation site. The UBL3 gene is located on chromosome 13q12.3 and is highly conserved among species.
