Target Information
J chain is a small glycopeptide synthesized by plasma cells secreting polymeric immunoglobulins. It is linked to IgA and IgM via disulfide bonds and has also been detected in IgG- and IgD-containing cells. J chains are present in a large proportion of immunoglobulin-positive cells in germinal centers of tonsil and lymph node. B cells secrete J chain early in differentiation, persisting in cells destined to produce IgA or IgM.
