Product Specific Information
The MA1-7270 antibody reacts with Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 gD in viral and infected tissue samples.
It has been successfully used in ELISA and Immunofluorescence applications.
The antibody was raised against Herpes simplex type 2 gD antigen.
Target Information
Members of the herpes virus family (Herpesviridae), Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2), also known as Human herpes virus 1 and 2 (HHV-1 and HHV-2), are highly contagious to humans.
HSV-1 strains typically cause cold sores, while HSV-2 strains are responsible for most genital herpes infections.
Transmission occurs when an infected person is shedding the virus.
The virion form of herpes viruses contains a large double-stranded, linear DNA genome enclosed within a capsid and enveloped by a lipid membrane.
HSV strains contain over 70 open reading frames (ORFs) and have been associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
