CDH17 유전자는 칼슘 의존성 막 결합 당단백질을 암호화하는 cadherin superfamily에 속합니다. 이 단백질은 7개의 cadherin 도메인을 포함한 세포외 영역과 막관통 영역으로 구성되어 있으며, 보존된 세포질 도메인은 없습니다.
CDH17은 위장관과 췌관의 구성 요소로서, 펩타이드 기반 약물의 경구 흡수 첫 단계에서 중요한 역할을 하는 장내 프로톤 의존성 펩타이드 수송체로 작용합니다. 또한 간과 장의 형태학적 조직화에도 관여할 수 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 전사체 변이가 존재합니다.
