Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays an essential role in brain development.
Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been found in various tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangement is the most common alteration, forming a fusion gene between ALK (chromosome 2) and NPM (chromosome 5).
The resulting NPM-ALK fusion protein is oncogenic.
ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, showing high sequence similarity to LTK.
It is critical for neuronal development and function.
