Target Information
POU5F1, also known as Oct-4, is a maternally expressed octamer-binding transcription factor crucial for early embryonic development. It plays a key role in maintaining pluripotency and self-renewal of embryonic stem cells. Expression of POU5F1, along with Sox2, Klf4, Lin28, and c-Myc, enables the generation of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from somatic cells, offering potential in regenerative medicine without viral introduction.
