Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains characterized by the role of zinc and have diverse functions such as transcriptional activation or repression. The coordination of a zinc ion governs protein folding and DNA-binding ability. ZMYM4 has been found to be overexpressed in human lung adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. Overexpression of a fragment of the 3′UTR of ZMYM4 mRNA, termed Cell Death Inhibiting RNA (CDIR), protects HeLa cells from IFN-gamma-induced apoptosis, suggesting a potential role in tumorigenesis.
