Product Specific Information

  • Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water.
  • Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
  • Specificity: TERT.

Target Information

Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein polymerase that maintains telomere ends by addition of the telomere repeat TTAGGG.
The enzyme consists of a protein component with reverse transcriptase activity (encoded by TERT) and an RNA component serving as a template for the telomere repeat.
Telomerase expression is normally repressed in postnatal somatic cells, leading to progressive telomere shortening and cellular senescence.
Deregulation of telomerase may contribute to oncogenesis.
Studies in mouse suggest telomerase also aids chromosomal repair by synthesizing telomere repeats at double-stranded breaks.
Alternative splicing generates different isoforms of TERT, serving as a regulatory mechanism of telomerase activity.
