Target Information
CCDC123 (also known as CEP123 or CEP89) is involved in primary ciliogenesis and mitochondrial metabolism, potentially modulating complex IV activity. It localizes to the distal appendages of the mother centriole in a cell cycle-dependent manner, decreasing during mitosis. Depletion of CEP123 can cause defects in ciliary vesicle formation and inhibit vesicle development at the distal end of the mother centriole. It may regulate membrane recruitment to the centrosome.
