Target Information

SCAMPs (Secretory Carrier Membrane Proteins) are membrane proteins widely distributed and involved in membrane trafficking. Most SCAMPs, such as SCAMP1, have N-terminal cytoplasmic NPF repeats, four central transmembrane regions, and a short C-terminal cytoplasmic tail. These NPF repeats are likely involved in mediating endocytosis.
However, SCAMP4 lacks NPF repeats and is thus unlikely to function in endocytosis. SCAMP4 has been associated with diseases such as Neurodevelopmental Disorder With Brain Abnormalities, Poor Growth, And Dysmorphic Facies, and Strabismus.
