Target Information
BRCA1 (breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility protein 1)은 핵 인산화 단백질로서 유전체 안정성을 유지하고, 다른 종양 억제 단백질, DNA 손상 감지 인자 및 신호 전달 인자들과 함께 BASC(BRCA1 associated genome surveillance complex)라는 다중 서브유닛 단백질 복합체를 형성하여 종양 억제 역할을 수행합니다. BRCA1은 RNA polymerase II 및 histone deacetylase complex와 상호작용하여 전사, 이중가닥 DNA 손상 복구, 재조합 과정에 관여합니다. BRCA1 유전자 변이는 유전성 유방암의 약 40%, 유전성 유방 및 난소암의 80% 이상을 유발합니다. 대체 스플라이싱은 BRCA1의 세포 내 위치 및 생리적 기능 조절에 영향을 주며, 여러 질병 관련 변이형이 보고되어 있습니다. 관련된 유사유전자(pseudogene)도 염색체 17에 존재합니다.
