Target Information

BRP44L (brain protein 44-like protein), also known as HSPC040 or CGI-129, is a 109 amino acid mitochondrial protein belonging to the UPF0041 family. The gene encoding BRP44L is located on human chromosome 6, which contains approximately 1,200 genes across 170 million base pairs. Chromosome 6 alterations are associated with several conditions such as early-onset intestinal cancer, porphyria cutanea tarda (via the HFE gene), Parkinson’s disease (via the PARK2 gene), and autoimmune disorders linked to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). Other disorders associated with chromosome 6 include Stickler syndrome, 21-hydroxylase deficiency, maple syrup urine disease, and bipolar disorder susceptibility.
