The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

The cathepsin family of proteolytic enzymes includes several classes of proteases.

• Cysteine proteases: Cathepsins B, L, H, K, S, and O
• Aspartyl proteases: Cathepsins D and E
• Serine protease: Cathepsin G

Most cathepsins are lysosomal enzymes involved in cellular metabolism, including peptide biosynthesis and protein degradation.
Cathepsin O maintains structural features typical of cysteine proteinases, including the active site cysteine residue that forms a covalent intermediate during peptide hydrolysis. It functions as an endoproteinase potentially involved in extracellular matrix degradation. Cathepsin O is abundantly expressed in the ovary, kidney, and placenta, with lower expression in thymus and skeletal muscle.
