Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Alpha 2-Macroglobulin (A2M) is an approximately 720-kDa homotetrameric glycoprotein composed of four identical ~180 kDa subunits.
A2M shares with other alpha-macroglobulins (e.g., complement components C3, C4, and pregnancy zone protein PZP) a high binding capacity for various ligands, serving as a humoral defense barrier against foreign peptides in plasma.
It captures virtually any proteinase, functioning as a panprotease inhibitor.
In the brains of Alzheimer’s disease patients, A2M is localized to diffuse amyloid plaques, suggesting its role in AD pathophysiology.
