Target Information
Estrogen-related receptor alpha 1 (ERRα, ERR1) is an orphan nuclear hormone receptor. Members of the ERR family share nearly identical DNA-binding domains, with 68% amino acid identity to the estrogen receptor. ERRα binds to the ERR-alpha response element (ERRE) containing a consensus half-site (5'-tnaaggtca-3') and can also interact with the MCAD response element (NRRE-1), regulating MCAD promoter activity. ERR1 functions as a metabolic regulator and is highly expressed in tissues that preferentially metabolize fatty acids. The corresponding gene is NR3B1.
