Target Information
Phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K, phospho PI3K) binds to activated (phosphorylated) protein-Tyr kinases via its SH2 domain, mediating the association of the p110 catalytic unit to the plasma membrane.
Phospho PI3K is essential for insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis in insulin-sensitive tissues. It interacts with IRS-1 during insulin stimulation and plays a key role in cell growth, cycle progression, migration, and survival in response to growth factors and hormones.
