Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling family. The protein contains a conserved 120 amino acid RGS domain and a cysteine-rich region. It attenuates G-protein signaling by binding to activated G alpha subunits and acting as a GTPase activating protein (GAP), promoting GTP hydrolysis to GDP. This process allows G alpha subunits to reassociate with G beta/gamma subunits, forming inactive heterotrimers and terminating the signal.
