This V3RT1GOsz monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse Tmem119 and has been validated for flow cytometry.
- Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
- Applications Tested: Tested on mouse brain cells after myelin removal; recommended ≤1.0 µg/test (100 µL final volume).
- Cell Density: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirically determined).
- Light Sensitivity: Protect from light to prevent photo-induced oxidation.
- Fixation: Compatible with IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-57). Samples can be stored up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.

Target Information
Tmem119 encodes a single-pass type I transmembrane protein interacting with micro-RNAs and transcription factors (SMAD1, SMAD5, RUNX2).
It serves as a microglia-specific surface marker distinguishing microglia from infiltrating macrophages.
Microglia are brain-resident phagocytes involved in debris clearance and synaptic pruning, showing functional plasticity in neuroprotective or neurotoxic responses.
Reactive microglia co-express Iba1 and can induce inflammatory A1 astrocytes via secretion of Cq1, IL-1a, and TNF, contributing to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Outside the nervous system, Tmem119 is implicated in osteoblast differentiation and ossification.
