Target Information
Capsid protein self-assembles to form an icosahedral capsid with T=1 symmetry, approximately 22 nm in diameter, consisting of 60 copies of three size variants (VP1, VP2, VP3) differing in their N-terminus. The capsid encapsulates the genomic ssDNA and binds to host cell heparan sulfate, using host ITGA5-ITGB1 as a coreceptor for virion attachment. This attachment induces internalization through clathrin-dependent endocytosis and triggers capsid rearrangements exposing the VP1 N-terminus, including its phospholipase A2-like region and nuclear localization signals. VP1 N-terminus may act as a lipolytic enzyme to breach the endosomal membrane and facilitate transport to the nucleus.
