Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.
The KLK8 gene is part of the kallikrein subfamily located on chromosome 19 and may play a role in proteolytic cascades in the skin. It is also considered a potential biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
