Target Information
DRP1 (Dynamin-related protein 1) is a human mitochondrial GTPase involved in mitochondrial division. It plays a critical role in mitochondrial fission during steady state and apoptosis. Proper DRP1 function ensures correct mitochondrial distribution; in mutant neurons, mitochondria are largely absent from synapses, providing a tool to study mitochondrial roles in neuronal function.
