Target Information
The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an essential cellular process for degrading abnormal or short-lived proteins. Ubiquitination involves three classes of enzymes:
- Ubiquitin-activating enzymes (E1s)
- Ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s)
- Ubiquitin-protein ligases (E3s)
UBE2B belongs to the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family and is required for post-replicative DNA damage repair. Its protein sequence is 100% identical to mouse, rat, and rabbit homologs, indicating high conservation across eukaryotic species.
