ADAMTS13는 ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 이 패밀리의 구성원은 프로펩타이드 영역, 금속단백분해효소 도메인, 디스인테그린 유사 도메인, 그리고 thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프를 포함합니다.
ADAMTS13는 von Willebrand Factor (vWF)-cleaving protease로서, vWF 분자의 Tyr842-Met843 위치에서 절단을 담당합니다. 이 효소의 결핍은 혈전성 혈소판감소성 자반증(thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura)과 관련이 있습니다.
