Target Information

Sonic Hedgehog (SHH)는 배아 발생 중에만 발현되며, 초기 배아의 패턴 형성에 중요한 역할을 합니다. SHH는 신경관의 복측 패턴화, 사지의 앞뒤 축 형성, 복측 체절 형성에 관여하는 주요 유도 신호로 알려져 있습니다.
이 단백질은 전구체 형태로 생성되어 자가 촉매적 절단을 거치며, N-말단은 신호 전달 기능을, C-말단은 전구체 처리에 관여합니다. C-말단은 N-말단에 콜레스테롤을 공유 결합시켜 세포 표면에 고정시키고 배아 내 확산을 제한합니다.
이 단백질 또는 그 신호 경로의 결함은 뇌의 좌우 분리 실패로 인한 holoprosencephaly(HPE)를 유발할 수 있으며, VACTERL 증후군과도 관련이 있습니다.
