Target Information
RYR3 is a ryanodine receptor that releases calcium from intracellular stores for use in various cellular processes. It is involved in skeletal muscle contraction by releasing calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum following T-tubule depolarization. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms of RYR3 have been identified. RYR3 mediates Ca²⁺ release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum into the cytoplasm and contributes to calcium ion homeostasis and signaling. Diseases associated with RYR3 include Central Core Disease and Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia 2.
