Target Information

Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development.
Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been found in tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangement is the most common genetic alteration, creating a fusion gene consisting of the ALK gene and the nucleophosmin (NPM) gene.
The NPM-ALK fusion gene product is oncogenic. ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, which are absent in the transforming NPM-ALK product.
ALK shows high sequence similarity to LTK and plays an important role in brain development, affecting specific neurons in the nervous system.
