Target Information
HIV-1 Gag p24 is a capsid protein that forms the core of the AIDS virus HIV-1. It is produced by proteolytic cleavage of the precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease. The p24 protein is essential for viral particle assembly and replication.
HIV-1 Gag p24 is detectable from the early stage of infection and is used as a marker to monitor disease progression and treatment response, as it reflects the viral load in the blood.
