Target Information

GOLPH1, also known as GCP60, was initially identified as a Golgi protein that interacts with the integral membrane protein giantin and is thought to be involved in maintaining Golgi structure.
It also interacts with Golgin-160, which can be cleaved by caspases-2, -3, and -7, leading to nuclear localization of Golgin-160 fragments.
GOLPH1 interaction with these fragments is stronger than with intact Golgin-160 and is regulated by the oxidation state of Cys-463, suggesting a coordinated mechanism for nuclear localization.
Additionally, GOLPH1 interacts with Numb, a cytosolic signaling protein involved in asymmetric cell division of neural progenitor cells, indicating that Golgi fragmentation and reconstitution during the cell cycle may regulate Numb signaling and couple cell fate with cell cycle progression.
