ICAM-2는 intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, type I transmembrane glycoprotein입니다.
2–9개의 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domain을 포함하며, leukocyte adhesion 단백질 LFA-1과 결합합니다.
ICAM-2는 LFA-1 의존적 세포 부착을 차단하여 림프구 재순환에 관여할 수 있으며, 항원 특이적 면역 반응, NK 세포 매개 제거, 림프구 재순환 및 면역 감시 등 다양한 세포 간 상호작용에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
이 유전자는 동일 단백질을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체를 가지며, 관련 질환으로는 대장 상피내암(Colon Carcinoma In Situ)이 보고되어 있습니다.
