Target Information

Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent a complex class of voltage-gated ion channels with diverse physiological roles, including regulation of neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume.
The KCNH4 gene encodes a member of the voltage-gated potassium channel subfamily H, a pore-forming (alpha) subunit. It is brain-specific, expressed in the neocortex and striatum, and may contribute to the excitability of specific neurons in the central nervous system.
