Target Information

RET is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the cadherin superfamily. It mediates cell growth and differentiation signals and plays a crucial role in neural crest development. RET can undergo oncogenic activation through cytogenetic rearrangement. Mutations in RET are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia types IIA and IIB, Hirschsprung disease, and medullary thyroid carcinoma. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms are known, with additional variants of uncertain biological validity.
