Product Specific Information
Reconstitution:
Dissolve the protein in sterile double distilled water to a concentration of 0.2 mg/mL or lower. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted and used as soon as possible. Store aliquots under sterile conditions at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
Influenza viruses consist of three types (A, B, and C), which make up three of the five genera in the Orthomyxoviridae family. Commonly known as the flu, these viruses can infect both birds and mammals. Influenza virions are roughly spherical and composed of a viral envelope containing two main glycoproteins (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase), surrounding the central core of the viral RNA genome and associated proteins that package and protect the RNA.
Unusually for viruses, the influenza genome is segmented into seven to eight fragments of negative-sense RNA, each encoding different viral proteins. Influenza spreads seasonally, causing 3–5 million severe cases and 250,000–500,000 deaths annually, with higher numbers during pandemics.
