This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, chicken, mouse, porcine, rat, and Xenopus based on sequence homology.


Target Information

MEF2C is a transcription activator that binds specifically to the MEF2 element present in the regulatory regions of many muscle-specific genes. It controls cardiac morphogenesis and myogenesis, and is involved in vascular development. MEF2C plays an essential role in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory by regulating synaptic transmission. It is crucial for normal neuronal development, distribution, and electrical activity in the neocortex, and necessary for proper development of megakaryocytes, platelets, and bone marrow B lymphopoiesis. It is required for B-cell survival and proliferation, efficient IgG1 antibody responses, and normal induction of germinal center B cells. Isoforms 3 and 4, which lack the repressor domain, are more active than isoforms 1 and 2.
