Target Information

NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) links transcriptional regulation directly to intracellular energetics and participates in coordination of several cellular functions such as cell cycle, DNA damage response, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy.
SIRT1 modulates chromatin function through histone deacetylation and promotes histone/DNA methylation changes leading to transcriptional repression.
It is essential for skeletal muscle cell differentiation and mediates inhibitory effects under low nutrient conditions involving AMPK and NAMPT pathways.
