Target Information
Mitochondrial protein that probably regulates the biogenesis and activity of mitochondria. Stimulates cardiolipin biosynthesis and binds cardiolipin-enriched membranes, recruiting and stabilizing proteins such as prohibitin. Plays roles in the organization of mitochondrial membrane microdomains, cell migration, proliferation, T-cell activation, calcium homeostasis, and stress response. Required for mitochondrial hyperfusion, a pro-survival response enhancing ATP production. May also influence plasma membrane domain organization and T-cell receptor complex regulation.
