This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PTP4A3.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a small class of prenylated protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), which are cell signaling molecules involved in various regulatory processes. This class contains a PTP domain and a characteristic C-terminal prenylation motif. Studies in mice demonstrated that these proteins are prenylated in vivo, suggesting association with the plasma membrane. Overexpression in mammalian cells has been reported to inhibit angiotensin-II–induced calcium mobilization and promote cell growth. Two alternatively spliced variants exist. PRL-3 expression is upregulated in human liver carcinoma compared with normal liver and may contribute to colorectal cancer liver metastasis. PRL-3 is also expressed in tumor metastasis and vasculature regardless of tumor source.
