Target Information

NF-kB is a nuclear transcription factor activated by various stimuli such as cytokines, UV radiation, stress, and microbial products. It regulates cellular events including growth, differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammation. NFKB1 (p50), a 50 kDa functional subunit of NF-kB, belongs to the Rel protein family and is synthesized as a p105 precursor containing an N-terminal RHD region with nuclear localization, DNA-binding, and dimerization domains. NFKB1 (p50) forms homo- or heterodimers (e.g., with p65) to create the functional NF-kB complex. NF-kB has been implicated in AIDS, cancer metastasis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
