Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins exhibiting remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, and isoelectric pH between 4.9 and 7.8.
Each cytokeratin (numbered 1–20) is characteristic of specific epithelial types and their differentiation stages. Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are widely used in distinguishing epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are valuable tools in differential tumor diagnosis using immunohistochemistry, as well as in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
