Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
GFAP (Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 패밀리에 속하며, 주로 중추신경계의 astrocyte 및 특정 astroglia 세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 말초 신경계의 위성세포 및 비수초화 Schwann 세포에서도 발현됩니다.
GFAP 항체는 astrocytic 세포의 마커로 널리 사용되며, 뇌종양 연구에서도 중요한 표지자로 활용됩니다. GFAP는 렌즈 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 일부 타액선 종양 세포 및 적혈구에서도 보고된 바 있습니다.
GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 Alexander disease(희귀한 신경교세포 질환)를 유발하며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 isoform이 생성될 수 있습니다.
