Target Information
This gene encodes an RNA-binding protein involved in growth regulation. It is present in pre-ribosomal ribonucleoprotein complexes and may participate in ribosome assembly and regulation of rRNA processing.
EBP1 interacts with the cytoplasmic domain of the ErbB3 receptor, contributing to growth signal transduction. It also acts as a transcriptional co-repressor of androgen receptor-regulated and other cell cycle genes via histone deacetylases.
EBP1 has been implicated in growth inhibition and differentiation induction of human cancer cells. Six pseudogenes are located on chromosomes 3, 6, 9, 18, 20, and X.
