Target Information
Cell-mediated immune responses are initiated by T lymphocytes that are stimulated by peptides bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Activated T cells express inhibitory receptors such as PD-1 (also known as PDCD-1) that regulate immune responses. PD-1 binds to ligands PDL-1 and PDL-2, transmitting inhibitory signals that limit T-cell activation in the absence of danger signals such as LPS. PD-1 deficiency in mice leads to hyperactivated immune systems and autoimmune diseases. Despite its predicted molecular weight, PD-1 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE.
