SERT (SLC6A4)는 신경전달물질 세로토닌을 시냅스 간극에서 시냅스 전 뉴런으로 수송하는 막 단백질입니다. 이 단백질은 세로토닌의 작용을 종료시키고 나트륨 의존적으로 재흡수합니다. 또한 암페타민, 코카인 등의 향정신성 자극제의 표적이며, sodium:neurotransmitter symporter 패밀리에 속합니다. 프로모터 영역의 반복 서열 다형성은 세로토닌 흡수율에 영향을 미치며, 영아 돌연사 증후군, 알츠하이머 환자의 공격성 행동, 외상 후 우울증 민감성과 관련이 있을 수 있습니다.
