PNPT1 (polyribonucleotide nucleotidyltransferase 1, mitochondrial)는 다양한 RNA 대사 과정에 관여하는 RNA 결합 단백질입니다. 이 단백질은 단일 가닥 폴리리보뉴클레오타이드를 3'-to-5' 방향으로 인산분해하며, 미토콘드리아 degradosome (mtEXO) 복합체의 구성 요소로서 ATP 의존적으로 3' 오버행 이중가닥 RNA를 분해합니다. 또한 미토콘드리아 mRNA의 처리 및 polyadenylation, 세포 내 RNA 수입, 미토콘드리아 형태 및 호흡, 전자전달계 발현 조절, 특정 miRNA 안정성 유지 등에 관여합니다. PNPT1 유전자 변이는 COXPD13 (combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 13) 및 DFNB70 (autosomal recessive deafness 70)을 유발할 수 있습니다.
