Target Information

ROS1 is a tyrosine kinase that functions as a growth or differentiation factor receptor. Protein kinases transfer a phosphate group from ATP to substrate proteins, mediating signal transduction in eukaryotic cells. They regulate metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.

The protein kinase family includes more than 500 gene products and is classified into 8 major groups based on catalytic domain sequence comparisons. The tyrosine kinase (TK) group primarily regulates cell-cell interactions such as differentiation, adhesion, motility, and death. Approximately 90 TK genes have been sequenced—58 receptor TKs (e.g., EGFR, EPH, FGFR, PDGFR, TRK, VEGFR) and 32 cytosolic TKs (e.g., ABL, FAK, JAK, SRC).
