Target Information
Glutathione S-transferase M3 (GSTM3) is an enzyme encoded by the GSTM3 gene in humans. It belongs to the mu class of cytosolic glutathione S-transferases, which function in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds such as carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins, and oxidative stress products through conjugation with glutathione.
The mu class genes are located on chromosome 1p13.3 and are known for high polymorphism, influencing susceptibility to toxins and drug responses. Mutations in this gene class are associated with a slight increase in cancer risk due to environmental toxin exposure.
