Target Information
MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase functioning in MAPK cascades that regulate cell growth and differentiation. It is activated by various growth factors, cytokines, and membrane depolarization, leading to phosphorylation at serine 218 and 222 residues by Raf1. MEK1 plays a role in stress response, apoptosis, and cytokine-induced proliferation. Mutations in MAP2K1 are associated with cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
